This week rumors about the release – or not – of a version of Microsoft Office for iPad made me rethink about the following opinion that I totally agreed up until now – stated on Minimal Mac:
You see, she said, missing all of the opportunities was just the start of a much deeper problem. Microsoft for many years had convinced the world that, in order to get “real work” done, you needed Office.[...]
Microsoft’s biggest miss was allowing the world to finally see the truth behind the big lie — they were not needed to get real work done. Or anything done, really.
To me an Office version coming for iPad would be a great deal for Microsoft – and a good addition for Apple, even not needing it that much. It’s clear that Microsoft hates Apple – and the opposite – but both now have a greater enemy that is Google. And what a better move than making, let’s say, an exclusive version for iPad – until the release of Windows 8 – to get Android off the map?
I think there’s still room for Office… Well it’s wait and see…
